SCHOA BOARD MEETING MINUTES
APRIL 5, 2024
Present: Gordon Baldwin, Chick
Barcellona, Christine Dean, John and Mindy Ewing,
Chris Regan
A short board meeting was held
to discuss the quotes obtained to begin the repair of the sink hole beside the
wet pond in the approach to the Commons. Three quotes were obtained: Shane
Johnson of ShanexLLC; FloHawks;
and Rotorooter. Upon discussion of each quote, it was
decided that SCHOA would hire ShanexLLC to do the
initial digging out, hauling away and disposing of the
silt covering the end of the storm drain culvert in the wet pond. Cost: $1,800.
This work can begin as soon as Monday, April 8. Once this work is complete, Rotorooter will be brought in to suction out the culvert,
allowing them to insert a camera into the last 33 feet of the culvert to locate
any break(s). (Thurston County Public Works found no breaks in the first 212
feet of the culvert, but could not access the last 33
feet due to the sediment clog.) Cost: $961 an hour with a two
hour minimum for a total of $1,922. Each addition hour would be $961.
The estimated total cost will therefore be $3,922 at this time.
FloHawks estimate for the exact same work as that listed above
was $8,635.17. This quote was rejected by the board.
Once the cause of the sink
hole has been determined and any breaks in the line identified, Christine will
gather quotes for the actual repair of the culvert. The board will meet again
at that time to discuss the quotes and address the needed steps for the repair
of the affected storm drain culvert.
