SCHOA BOARD MEETING MINUTES
JULY 22, 2024
Present: Gordon Baldwin, Chick Barcellona,
Christine Dean and Jamie McCarthy, John and Mindy Ewing, David Hamilton,
Laurie Kirschner, Tracy MacMillan
The meeting was called to
order at 6:31 p.m.
• The board discussed the ongoing project to have the wet pond dredged and restored to “as built” condition. This work is necessary to prevent another sink hole like the one that developed this past spring, and to bring the wet pond into compliance with county requirements. Christine is researching companies and receiving quotes for the work. So far, two quotes have been submitted. She will work to get a few more for comparison. The bank where the pipe was fixed to repair the sink hole is not stable, and will likely erode when winter rains come, so the work will need to be done this summer or early fall to keep the drainage pipe from collapsing. The wet pond will be restored to its original condition as laid out in the schematics for the neighborhood. Tracy reported that some money has been set aside in the budget for this work, but this amount will likely not cover the full cost. All financial options are being considered at this time. After the board has received and reviewed all quotes, a neighborhood meeting will be called to inform all residents about the work that needs to be done.
• A short discussion was held about rebidding the landscaping contract. The desire is to find a suitable, comparable company that would be able to do the work a little cheaper. The contract runs from March – February, so the board will begin researching companies soon in hopes of having new bids to consider in early 2025.
• There has been an issue with neighbors not cleaning up after their dogs properly. Please pick up your pet’s waste and dispose of it in your own garbage. Plastic poop bags have been found in the wet pond. This is absolutely not acceptable. Pond water eventually flows into the lake. Dog waste can cause immense damage to the health of our beautiful lake. Please be a responsible pet owner and good neighbor.
• Please remember that the boat rack by the lake must be completely emptied by October 1st. No boats are to be left on the rack over the winter months. They may be returned to the rack on March 1, 2025. The board will determine how many residents would like a spot on the rack for next year, and may institute a lottery system if demand outpaces availability. Start thinking now about storage options for your boat or kayak for the winter months.
The next Board meeting will take place on August 12, 2024 at 6:30 p.m. at the Ewing home, 6718 Mirror Ct.
The meeting was adourned at 8:01 p.m.
